Compost can be spread over the lawn in the spring to provide natural nutrients needed to stimulate growth. It can be added around trees and shrubs in the spring, summer and fall. Over time soils become compacted from tightly growing roots, rain and cold winter weather.
Adding compost will give your existing root systems fresh new nutrients and help to loosen up the soil around the roots. This will also provide a natural environment to encourage beneficial garden creatures such as earth worms to thrive and continue to loosen up the soil and allow more oxygen into the soil.
